Kingsport, Sidney Phillip Babb, 60, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Thursday (November 20, 2008) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scott County, VA (Clinchport) and lived in Kingsport since 1952. Sidney was previously employed at J.P. Stevens Corp. He was a member of Riners Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Sydney was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Babb and Elva Hall Babb; an infant brother, Leon; and a infant sister, Brenda; three sisters, Joyce Bowser, Darlene Bruner and Glenna Wheat; two brothers, Perry Babb and Lucian Babb.
He is survived by his wife, Clenis Coble Babb, of the home; three sisters, Ruth Arnold, Marlene Manis and Marcella Cavin, all of Kingsport; two brothers, Gary K. Babb and Ira Jackson Babb, Sr., both of Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday (November 24, 2008) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Gilliam and Rev. Frank Miller officiating. Music will be provided by Riners Tabernacle Singers.
Burial will follow in the Babb Family Cemetery, Hill Station, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Babb family.
