Dorothy "Dot" Childress Ligon Ellison, 91, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at The Oaks Assisted Living in Kingsport.
She was a life long resident of Sullivan County, Tennessee (Kingsport) and a member of Cedar View Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Ellison, Sr.; her son, Lovick Maurice Ellison, Jr.; her parents, John and Ada Childress Ligon; and her brother, Peyton Ligon.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Holtsclaw and husband Lloyd of Inman, SC; son, David Ellison and wife Mary of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Lisa Huckaby, Kim Prillhart and husband Mark, Ginger Blalock and husband Brian, Joseph Holtsclaw and wife Dawn and Michael Holtsclaw; seven great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Cedar View Ind. Methodist Church, 1421 Gibson Mill Road, Kingsport. Funeral services will be in the church at 1 pm with Dr. James B. Fields, officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Doug Ferguson, Archie Hensley, Johnny Hubbard, Jimmy Miller, Lloyd Holtsclaw, Tommy Guy, Joe Holtsclaw and Mark Ferguson will serve as pallbearers.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Ellison family.
