Ruth M. Leamon

Ruth M. Leamon, 91, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.

She was born on October 30, 1917 in Hancock, Tennessee to the late J.W. and Ida Trent Leamon. She moved to and grew up in Princess Anne, MD, returning to Kingsport after graduating high school. She worked at the Kingsport Press for 45 years until her retirement, first as a linotype operator in the composing room and then in the early 50's as a supervisor in CAP. She was an active member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church until her health declined.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters; John Leamon, Barnett, Leamon, Burkett Leamon, Fannie Lipscomb, Fain Leamon, Artie Howard, Gladys Tribeck, Jean Montooth and Jack Leamon.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Kenneth and Sissie Leamon, Jim and Tena Leamon , Charles and BJ Leamon, Jackie Simpson, all of Kingsport; Gerry and Barbara Tribeck of Snow Hill, MD, and Kathleen Ennis of Fruitland, MD; along with several great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Lynn Garden Baptist Church, 301 May Avenue, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held in the church at 1 pm with Pastor Michael Wyre, officiating

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Leamon, Jim Leamon, Charles Leamon, Gerry Tribeck, Connie Walton, Jason Tribeck, Billy Brown and Casey Leamon.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Lynn Garden Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, 301 May Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37665

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Leamon family.

Ruth was my first supervisor at the Kingsport Press. She was my teacher and mentor on the job. She could be tough, but she always came to our defense when the need arose. She will be missed. Kenneth and Sissy you were a good nephew and niece to her. So sorry for your loss.

I, too, worked for Ruth for years at the Press. She was a very nice lady and will be missed. My condolences to you, Kenneth & Sissy and the rest of your family. Your took good care of her in her later years.
