Ona Mae Fugate Lee Hill, 91, of Kingsport, went to be home with the Lord on Monday, October 26, 2009, at her residence.
She was born in Scott County, Virginia and had lived in Kingsport most of her life. Ona was a former employee of Borden Mill Textile Plant, Holston Defense, Tennessee Plastics in Johnson City, and Texas Instruments where she retired in 1981 after 8 years of service. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and also enjoyed fishing and bowling. Ona attended Cedar View United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her 2nd husband L.C. Hill in 1992; her parents, Martin P. and Mary Magdeline Stapleton Fugate; paternal grandparents, Frances Fugate and Anna Dody Addington Fugate; maternal grandparents, Melvin Stapleton and Hester Salyers Stapleton and two sisters, Callie Vineyard and Alice Fletcher,
Survivors include her foster daughter, Faye Hawkins Ferguson and husband Cecil of the home; two grandchildren, Kevin Hawkins and wife Leigh Ann, John Hawkins; two great-granddaughters, Whitney Hawkins and Olivia Hawkins; a great-grandson, Eli Hawkins; step great-grandson; niece, Betty Price; two nephews, Ray Fletcher and wife, Melinda and Fred "Pappy" Vineyard; also surviving, Glenda Fletcher wife of deceased nephew, W.R. Fletcher and Margo Fletcher wife of deceased nephew, Howard Fletcher and nieces, Bertha Mae Cox and Jo Gilliam and husand Ron
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.
Funeral Services will be in the funeral home chapel at 7 pm with Rev. Wrightly Salling and Rev. Grady Lee, officiating.
Committal services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:25 pm. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Hill family.
