Goldie L. Martin Hammonds, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at Holston Manor in Kingsport.
She was born in Lee County, Virginia and lived most of her life in Kingsport. She was a member of Highland Freewill Baptist Church.
Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earl Hammonds; parents, Dave and Artie Allen Martin; daughter, Phyllis Clearly; and four brothers, Woodrow Martin, Gilmer Martin, David Martha and Thurston Martin.
Survivors include her special son, Ronnie Martin and wife, Brenda of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Lisa Kay McLaughlin and husband, Rob of Jonesville, VA and Rhonda Susanne Ford and husband, Howard of Kingsport; grandson, Marty Martin of Kingsport; great-granddaughter, Dayna McLaughlin of Jonesville, VA and a brother, Harold Martin and wife, Reba of Kingsport.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, conducted by Rev. Wayne Baker. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.

Goldie was a precious friend with whom I treasured. We were room mates at Holston Manor and grew to be sisters in the eyes of the Lord. I love her and will miss her dearly. God bless you and keep you. I will see you someday.

i'm sorry to hear of goldie's passing. she was my father's half sister. his name is richard martin and lives in middlesboro,ky.
