Michael "Mike" Sexton, 45 of Mt. Carmel, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Holston Valley Medical center following a long illness. He was born in Kingsport but had been a resident of Hawkins County most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Sexton; his paternal grandparents, James and Evelyn Sexton; maternal grandparents, McKinley and Elizabeth Mullins.
Michael is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sherry Sexton; daughter, Tonya Nickels both of the home; parents, Billy Joe and Bessie Lou Mullins Sexton of Church Hill (Ross Camp Ground Community); brother, Allen Sexton and wife Kim of Church Hill; sister, Deanna Hurd of Kingsport; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Bunny Moore of Weber City, VA; niece, Jessie Hurd; nephews, Jason Sexton and wife Amanda and Wesley Hurd; great-nephew, McKinley Sexton.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral, 1115 Hwy 11-W, Church Hill, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ralph Owens officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Ross Camp Ground Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Camp Ground UMC, (Cabin Fund) or the Ross Camp Ground (Cemetery Fund), C/O Janie Kinchelo, 930 Jackson Street, Mt. Carmel, TN 37645.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Sexton family.

Dear families,,There are no words that i can say that could express my feelings of Michael..He was a very good person..He was so kind to my dad to always lend a helping hand to him no matter what..He always spoke to me and anything he said about my family was always pleasant.I call Michael my friend and his family have been my friends for many years..He and Sherry and Tonya were great neighbors to my mom and dad....He will be missed..Its not good bye my friend only so long for now...
