Verl Hansen Moore, 81, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Moore was born in Nickelsville, Virginia on April 9, 1928, a son of the late, Albert and Bertha (Wampler) Moore.
He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by the T. V. Cable Company and Mason and Dixon Truck Lines. He attended Gravelly Baptist Church in Kingsport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Fletcher and two brothers, Hubert Moore and Fred Moore.
Survivors are his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Prillhart Moore; his daughter, Donna Moore Prillhart and her husband, Roger of Stockbridge, Georgia; his sons, David E. Phillips and his wife, Becky of Mansfield, Texas and Donald G. Phillips and his wife, Debbie of Stockbridge, Georgia; his sister, Nell Moore Bombailey of Kingsport; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.
Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7 pm conducted by Pastor David Salley with special music being performed by Roger Prillhart.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Presentation of the Flag will be by American Legion Hammond Post #3. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.
The family gives special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice Services and Dr. Emily Morawski, for their kind care. Also, a special thank you, to our church families for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Verl H. Moore, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gravelly Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 Gravely Road, Kingsport, TN 37660
