Vella Neatherly Dailey, 77 of Clifton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Greenewood Manor in Xenia, OH after a lengthy illness. Born May 28, 1932 to Willie J. and Vina Robinson, she was a native of Johnson County, TN having graduated from Johnson County High School in 1951. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a loving and giving spirit and devoted much of her time visiting friends, family and the sick and shut-in. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church but had recently attended Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Neatherly; brothers, Edsel and Edgar Robinson; sisters, Faye Pleasant and Stella Dillion.
Vella is survived by her husband, Grover Dailey of Clifton; daughters, Donna Chavis and husband John "Woodie" of Columbia, SC, Judy Housewright and husband Kyle of Mt. Carmel; granddaughter, Sarah Chavis; grandsons, Jamie Housewright and wife Jennifer, Brett Housewright and Jared Housewright; great-granddaughter, Aiden Chavis, step-daughter, Linda Kipp and husband Kenneth; step-sons, Roger Dailey and wife Cheryl, John Dailey and Jeff Dailey; 11 step-grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; brother, James H. Robinson of Mountain City, TN; several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11-W, Church Hill, TN. Friends may also call anytime at the home of a daughter, Judy Housewright.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ken Moore, Pastor Bill Crawford and Pastor Bob Simpson officiating. Music will be provided by John Ward Singers and Lisa Mullins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Tennessee Chapter of Alzheimer Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Suite 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604, the American Heart Association, Tennessee, 208 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601 or the church or charity of ones choice.
