Archie Laverne Ward, 76 of Rogersville passed away Monday morning November 16, 2009 at Indian Path Medical Center. He was born March 15, 1933 in Washington County, TN and spent most of his life in Hawkins County. Archie retired from Citizens Supply in 1995 and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ora Simpson Ward; 3 brothers, Kyle, Johnny and Elmer Ward and twin infant sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Jean Crawford Ward of the home; special daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Randy Fletcher of Fall Branch; special son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Wanda Ward of Kingsport; 2 special grandchildren, Michelle Stanley and husband Brad of Fall Branch and Tony Shelton II of Kingsport; 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Mazel and Ed Hutson of Rogersville and Mary Kate Arnold of Church Hill; special brother-in-law, Jerry H. Crawford, who was always there with a helping hand; special cousin, Glen Ward, whose calls always made him feel better; special co-worker and friend, Elmer Arnold and wife Willie; special friend Louise Light, who always made him smile; special sister-in-law, Dolly Ward; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Pete Smith and Pastor Lester Morelock officiating. Music will be provided by Brad Stanley and Pete, Diane and Jeremy Smith.
Burial will follow in Morrison Cemetery Rogersville, TN. Pallbearers will be Terry Ward, Randy Fletcher, Tony Shelton II, Jerry Crawford, Donald Hutson and Lance Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Ward, Elmer Arnold, Robert Crawford and Gardell Doty.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Ward family.
