Jerry E. Dishner

Jerry E. Dishner, 88, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Sunday night (November 15, 2009) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a life long resident of Scott County.

Jerry was a graduate of Rye Cove High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in World War II. He practiced law in the Commonwealth of Virginia for over 50 years. Mr. Dishner had a great influence on individuals practicing law today. He was an avid runner. Jerry was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Wayne Dishner; his parents, Martin & Nannie Dinsmore Dishner along with several brothers & sisters.

Jerry Dishner is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Dishner; a daughter, Betty Collier (Big Stone Gap, VA); his sons, Tommy Dishner & wife, Deloris (Jonesborough, TN), Craig Dishner & wife, Elaine (Cedartown, GA); grandchildren, Josh Dishner, Tanya Dishner, Matt Dishner, Karen Dishner, & Kim Dishner; five great grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Klomparens; his brother, Sydney Dishner along with several nieces, nephews & many friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday (November 19, 2009) from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday (November 19, 2009) at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.

A military graveside service conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard & the TN Army National Guard will follow the funeral at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Dishner family.

We're so sorry that you've lost Jerry.It'll be difficult for a while,so hang in there...we're still out here by the creek if you need to talk to somebody.
Jerry's young again,healthy again...he's O.K. now.We can almost see him smilin'!
