Bonnie Forbes Manis, 91, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was born in Carter County, Tennessee (Roan Mountain). Bonnie was retired from Leeper's Food Market and from Bridwell Packing Company, having worked for over 20 years at each location. She was a proud member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
Bonnie had a smart mind and a lot of wisdom, that was shared with so many people, young and old.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Moffitt Forbes; her father, Milburn Forbes; three sisters, Beulah Owens, Goldie Dykes and Rebecca Bishop; and two brothers, Warren Forbes and Harvey Forbes
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda McNutt; granddaughter, Teresa Leedy and husband, Chris; great-granddaughter, Kristin Leedy, all of Kingsport; three sisters, Edna McCurdy of Sevierville, TN, Lillis Belle Wiseman and husband, Sam of Spring Grove, PA and Emma Ruth Lyons and husband, Ken of Johnson City, TN; two sisters-in-laws, Agnes Forbes of Surgoinsville, TN and Edith Forbes of Kingsport; along with several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomingdale Pike, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow in the church at 1 pm conducted by Pastor Joe W. Byrd and Rev. Bob Harris. Music will be provided by the Church Choir.
Burial will be in the Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers are, H.C. Vaughn and Tim Vaughn.
