Virginia E. Littlejohn Watterson

Virginia E. Littlejohn Watterson, 87, of Kingsport, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Holston Manor in Kingsport

Mrs. Watterson came to Kingsport from Cliffside, North Carolina as a young woman. She was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Watterson served in the Golden Saints, Sunday School and Choir. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and sewing. Most of all she loved serving the Lord, loved her church and loved people.

She was active in several civic organizations such as the Easter Star, Women's Service League, True Blue Club and Missionary Circle #2.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Watterson, her parents, Elzy and Jayvester Lynch Littlejohn; her step mother, Maudie Littlejohn and sister, Sue Thomas.

Survivors include her special cousin and friend, Jennibelle Bristol, special cousin, Sarah Smith and husband, James of Gray, step-daughter, Claudine Watterson Young; grandson, Russell "DoLolly" Watterson; sister, Eula Elliott; nephew, James Elliott and wife, Frances of Cliffside, NC; brother-in-law, Richard Watterson and wife, Barbara of Johnson City, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 pm on Monday, November 23, 2009 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 712 E. Sevier Avenue, Kingsport.

Funeral services will follow in the Church at 12:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Calvert, officiating. Music will be provided by the church Choir.

Burial will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Carter-Trent Funeral home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Watterson family.

I'm going to miss Ms. Watterson. We really had a great time in Mission Circle #2 and singing in the choir at Shiloh. Sis. Watterson is "Just another soldier gone on home." She is at rest now.
