Shirley Hurley Fugate, 78, of Mount Carmel, went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, November 20, 2009, at her residence after a long illness.
She was born, raised and went to school in Sneedville and had been a resident of Mt. Carmel most of her life. Mrs. Fugate was of the Holiness Faith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Loyd Hurley; her second husband, Mitchell James Fugate; her parents, Mack and Rose Gibson Johnson; sister, Lona May Dobbs; four brothers, Homer Johnson, Clarence Johnson, Grady Johnson and Dayton Johnson.
Survivors include her three sons, Wendell Hurley & wife, Joyce of Harriman, TN, Willis Hurley & wife, Wanda of Mohawk, TN and Kyle Hurley of the home; four grandchildren, Tammy Hurley, James Hurley, Craig Hurley, and Bryant Hurley; several great grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Anderson and husband, Jr.; a brother, Coy Johnson and wife, Patsy of Morristown, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Highway 11W, Church Hill, TN. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel at 6 pm with Bishop Hagan Webb, officiating. Music will be provided by the Webb Family Singers.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Church Hill Memory Gardens, Church Hill, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 pm.
