Elder Philip E. Ketron
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Elder Philip E. Ketron, 57, of Hiltons, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday (February 6, 2010) at his residence after a brief illness. He devoted his life to serving and preaching the word of God. He was a member of Barkers Chapel Church in Hiltons, VA were he pastored for 7 years. He also pastored
Glenwood in Hiltons, VA for 3 years.

He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 29 years of service. He was in the Navy from June 1972 to June 1975.

Preceding him in death was his father, O. M. Ketron; a very special mother and father in law, Roy Sampson and Kathryn Cole Sampson.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Sampson Ketron, of the home; a daughter, Hope Frazier and husband Jason of Kingsport; two sons, Wade Ketron and wife Tasha of Yuma, VA and Adam Ketron and wife Angela of Hiltons, VA; five grandchildren, Jay and Ryan Frazier, Cody and Gracie Ketron and Dylan Ketron; mother, Loriane Kilgore Ketron of East Carters Valley; a sister, Syble Patterson and husband, J.R. Patterson of Bulls Gap, TN; along with several nieces and nephews; a special (like daughter), Missy Carter Hyatt and her children, Amelia, Jillian and Carter Hyatt.

The family will receive friends 4 - 7 pm on Monday February 8, 2010 at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 US Highway 23N, Weber City.

A service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Marshall Tipton, Elder Gary Cavin, and Roger Vineyard officiating and a eulogy by his sons. Music will be provided by Glory Land Express, Napier Family and The Bishop Family.

A military graveside service will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery with American Legion Post 3/265 and the VA National Guard conducting the rites.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be David Sampson, Randall Sampson, J.R. Patterson, Jr. Vineyard and Jerry Herron.

Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Ketron family.

We are so sorry about Phil.We will allways remember the time we spent with Phil,at Jerry& Cindy's. Phil, will be greatly missed. I am so glad you got to spend some time at the beach with him.
