John Calvin "Carl" Babb

John Calvin "Carl" Babb, 90, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport after a brief illness.

Born in Scott County, Virginia (Gate City), he lived in Kingsport most of his life and was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. He served in the US Army / Air Force during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 3. He was retired from Eastman Chemical Corp, after over 30 years of service. He had previously worked for the Meade Corp. Mr. Babb was a member of the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Worley and Sallie Marie Williams Babb; fours sisters, Vada Peters, Dora Bowens, Cora Lane and Polly Quillen and a brother, Olin N. Babb.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 68 years, Imogene Mitchell Babb of the home; two special sisters-in-law, Patsy Wagner Holt of Kingsport, Brenda Wagner Castle and husband, Norman of Beckley W.V and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Carter Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 1 pm with Pastor Tom Seay , officiating. Music will be provided by Danny Fleming.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Members of the Men's Club of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. Honorary Pallbearers are the men of the Fort Henry Arms.
