Thelma Blanche McPeek Herron, 95, of Kingsport, was given to her Lord by her loving family on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was born in Hawkins Valley, Tennessee (Poor Valley) and has lived in Kingsport since 1934. She was employed in sales and Park-Belk for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of Cedar View Independent Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Everett Herron; two daughters, Joyce Rittenour, Carolyn Pruett; a son, Don Herron; four brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Herron of Oklahoma City, OK. Living in Kingsport are her three grandchildren, Karon Cole and husband, David, Sharon Bailey and Marian Plitzko; six great grandchildren, Jason, Kimberly, Beckey, April, Clifton, Sara; two great-great grandchildren, Austin, David . There are seven other grandchildren who live out of the area, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 pm on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN. Funeral services will be in the chapel at 6 pm with Rev. Dr. Jim Fields.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Clanton, David Cole and Jason Cunningham. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar View Independent Methodist Church, 1421 Gibson Mill Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

I will love and miss my Grandma! I am so happy to have all of the wonderful memories to share with my children. I am a CNA at Brookhaven Manor where Thelma has been a resident for some time. I was very saddened to hear that Thelma had passed. She was a sweet lady and will be missed. She is now pain-free and happy in Heaven. God Bless.

Mrs. Herron was a lovely lady. We had the honor of knowing her for many years. She was always so kind to my mother when we were shopping and would see her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult loss. She will be greatly missed.

I am incredibly saddened to hear of the loss of my great-grandmother.
