Dorothy Wood

Dorothy Wood, 61, of Surgoinsville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Holston Valley Medical Center unexpectedly. Born in Nashville, Dorothy had been a resident of Surgoinsville for most of her life. She had recently worked for Cooper Standard. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Dodson.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Wood of Surgoinsville; daughter, Dawn Pennington of Rogersville; sons, Chris Jenkins and wife Sally, Troy Jenkins and wife Cameo of Pegram, TN and Tony Jenkins and wife Tammy of Pegram; step-son, Chris Wood and wife Mandy of Surgoinsville; special granddaughter, "Tater" and 11 other grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Ferguson Dodson of Hartsville, TN; sisters, Joyce Dodson of Nashville and Darlene Jenkins and husband Raymond of Hartsville; brothers, David Dodson and wife Patsy, Calvin Dodson and Kenneth Dodson all of Nashville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, the Sopher family.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Carter Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN.

A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.

Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Wood family.

Dawn, I am so very sorry for the loss of your mother. She was always so supportive of me, kind to me, and kind to my children. She was a very special person to me as you are. My dear Louise, you are in my heart and many memories. I wish I could be there to say my last good bye but my recovery from surgery is preventing any travel. I love you very much and will cherish our memories together always.
