Sandra Smith Quillen, 59, of Lynn Garden went to be with the Lord on Friday (February 26, 2010) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Sandra was a lifelong resident of this area. She graduated from Gate City High School. Mrs. Quillen always loved to cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker (Pete) & Grace Gilreath Smith; her father-in-law, John Quillen.
Sandra Quillen is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Gary Quillen; her daughter, Amy Quillen (both of Kingsport, TN); her sisters, Judy Smith (Hiltons, VA), Donna Maultbay & Rick (Church Hill, TN); brothers, Wayne & Frankie Smith (Hiltons, VA), Larry & Audrey (Jackie) Smith (Church Hill, TN); her special cat, "Sassy" along with several nieces, nephews, & many special friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday (February 28, 2010) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at either residence of her brother's.
A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (February 28, 2010) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating. Music will be provided by Darthula Baptist Church Choir.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday (March 1, 2010) at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery with Tracy Burton, Larry Whitley & her nephews serving as pallbearers.
A celebration of her life will be held at Darthula Baptist Church following the graveside service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Darthula Baptist Church Building Fund, 1741 Lunsford Mill Road, Hiltons, VA 24258.
Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Quillen family.
