Steven Paul Sparks, 49, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Bristol Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Tennessee (Kingsport) , he was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and East Tennessee State University. Steven was self employed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernita Pippin Sparks and his grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 12 years, Monica Mims Sparks of the home; a daughter, Marzia Mims of Johnson City; two sons, Jacob Mims of Selem, New Hampshire, and Zachary Mims of Kingsport; his father, Cecil Sparks of Kingsport; brother, Billy Bradley of Daytona, Fl; special Aunt, Edith McCracken of Mt Carmel; mother-in-law, Opal Mims; special father-in-law, Layne Mims; special uncle Wayne Mims, all of Prattville, Ala; along with several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 5, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Tolley, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Jeff Sparks, Bob Allen, Chris Allen, Anthony Mann, Jeff Morelock, Travis Leilich and Randall Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Layne Mims and Wayne Mims.

Dear Monica, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I didn't ever get to meet Steve, but I always heard such good things about him. I didnt realize how much I missed Stevie until his picture appeared. I know we have been out of touch for some time,but I still loved him he was my cousin. We had alot of good times together growing up.And man did he love to brush those teeth! We use to drive our parents and grandma crazy! If they only knew! We had a blast while it lasted. Tammy and I were so sorry to hear about Steve. We have so many memories of him @ Aunt Beulah's house. If mom and Aunt Beulah knew the things they let me get away with..lol Tammy sends her love and wanted to let you'll know that she thought of him often.
