Surgoinsville - Wandell D. "Red" Cradic, 79 of Surgoinsville, joined his beloved wife and heavenly father on Sunday, March 7, 2010 after an extended illness. Mr. Cradic served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed by Kingsport Mead Corp for 43 years. He was faithful to the Surgoinsville First Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Cradic was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Hazel Marcum Cradic and a brother, Dale Cradic.
He is survived by his only child, Karen Cradic Nowell and husband Philip of Surgoinsville; 2 grandsons, Matthew G. Trent and Ben P. Trent both of Surgoinsville; brothers, Lee Cradic of Church Hill and Willard Cradic and wife Nancy of Kingsport; sister, Rose Alba Cradic Harris of Rogersville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. Harrell, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Oma) Johnson and Mr. James Marcum all of Surgoinsville; best friends and constant companion for over 40 years, Mr. Bobbie (Geneva) Webster of Mooresburg; special niece, Kathy Webster Coleman and husband Don of Kingsport; special nephew, Eric Webster and wife Lori; several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. George L. Winegar officiating. Music will be provided by Vicki Bennett.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens with the Hawkins County Color Guard and the TN National Guard conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be Bobbie Webster, Matt Trent, Ben Trent, Steve Morelock, Grover Cradic, Don Coleman, York Hurd and Eric Webster.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Cradic family.
